To help you to understand what Keyba Careers is about, we need to tell you a little about Key Business Advisors.
Established in 2008 by Colin Wilson, together with his wife Lorraine, Key Business Advisors (KBA) provides professional services to help take businesses from good to great. To achieve this, KBA offers a range of services through 4 pillars:
It’s through these services we take our customers on a journey to help them improve their business through all aspects of employee engagement and performance.
Colin Wilson has a passion for helping young people. This inspired him to form a partnership with YouthNow, in 2014. YouthNow, based in Sunshine, is a not-for-profit organisation specialising in career and transitioning services for young people.
Led by Colin, KBA voluntarily developed a program initially called, “Telesales and Customer Service Program”. This program was so successful it grew into what is now known as the “Employer Engagement Training Program for Young People”. This program, facilitated in a classroom environment, has been designed to help young people aged 17-29 who are struggling to find a job or career. It assists them by developing their employability skills to secure employment. To date, we have conducted nine programs. This has been a huge success and we have the case studies and testimonials to back that up.
To ensure the sustainability and continued success of the program, the most logical next step was to convert it to an online training program. KBA was very fortunate to receive a local government grant from the City of Moonee Valley in June 2017. It was with this grant the program was converted to an online platform. This opens the program up to so many more young people. We can now reach out Australia-wide and even further afield to offer people everywhere the ‘street-smart’ skills they need to find a job in today’s competitive marketplace.
This is how “Keyba Careers” came to fruition. Click here to find out more about Keyba Careers.
Partner – YouthNow
Key Business Advisors is honoured to be strong partners and supporters of YouthNow, a community-based organisation helping young people increase their confidence and skills – by better preparing them to enter the workforce.
YouthNow is a not-for-profit organisation specialising in career and transitioning services for young people. Established in 1997, YouthNow provides expertise to businesses, schools, young people and community groups.
The YouthNow BizE Centre Work Program gives early school leavers, disengaged youth and young people from highly disadvantaged backgrounds, an opportunity to improve their employability.
Since early 2014, Key Business Advisors, led by Director, Colin Wilson, has volunteered time and services to the YouthNow training program. Students develop their telesales competence, customer service skills, business knowledge, basic sales skills and most importantly, they learn how their individual contribution affects the team and consequently the results it can have on the business they are working for, be it positive or negative.
This program also provides the added knowledge and life experiences to help students increase their confidence. Self-esteem can often be very low in this sector and this is something that the YouthNow program strives to improve. We prepare students for what lies ahead and get them to the point where they can confidently go into an interview or follow their passion without fear.
In 2015, YouthNow was the proud winner of the “Excellence in Creating Local Solutions Award” at the Learn Local 2015 Awards night, having been recognised for their key role in the Learn Local programs through the creation of ‘local solutions’ by forming strong partnerships with other community service providers, businesses and industries. Colleen Bergin, YouthNow’s CEO, and Colin Wilson are proud of this collaborative partnership that delivers quality and tailored training opportunities addressing both community and learners’ needs.
At Key Business Advisors we were very happy to see YouthNow rewarded for their hard work. Click here to view the Victorian State Government News Bulletin. Victoria State Government Media Release 15 April 2016 – A Local Solution to Youth Employment Issues
